Ode to Summer
Gentle rays hug the robin’s nest;
Lady Bug checks herself in a dewdrop.
Blooms and birds are dressed in their best.
Grasses tickle little bare feet;
Breeze ruffles laundry and chases clouds
While brows glisten and drip the summer heat.
Duties and delights beckon; hands busy in the sun.
Shade hosts picnics and water sends refreshing invitation
While contentment fills hearts from deeds done.
From day’s slow decline the shadows grow
And scents of day’s toils greet the dusk.
Smiling laughter relaxes around campfire glow.
