Waiting for the perfect time is no stranger to any of us. Yet, how often do all of the variables fall snuggly into place and relax peaceably together long enough for us to notice, let alone firmly secure that fleeting occasion? True, it may happen every now and again. Some people even appear to automatically attract those golden opportunities. However, I’m inclined to believe that those folks, through hard earned effort, have merely mastered the art of creating their seemingly perfect time by making do with imperfect variables. They’ve fine-tuned the skill of initiation. Surely, that sounds much more realistic than “perfect times” falling into their laps every other week.
I’m trying more and more to imitate those undaunted souls. So here I am. Launching a blog. The thought of which has been repeatedly placed on the back burner for years…sentenced to wait for the perfect time. In all honesty, there have been countless seasons the idea was taken off that back burner and completely thrown off the stove.
“I’ll start one someday.” “When I’m older I’ll have more time for that sort of hobby.” “If only I had enough content ideas!” “That sounds like a lot of work when I already have a decent sized load I’m trying to juggle.” “Come to think of it, I don’t think I’d be a good enough blogger anyway to keep it moving along.”
Be most assured that all of my variables are not magically in complete agreeance now. I’m simply learning that “someday” will contentedly remain “someday” if left to itself. I’m finding myself busier by the second. I certainly don’t have 100 perfectly polished posts ready to publish. A beautifully curated, successful blog has not fallen into my lap. (A bit rude that it didn’t if you ask me.) The here and now will have to suffice. Between sips of lukewarm coffee, changing diapers, teaching double digit division, cooking…again, cleaning…again, kissing scrapes and enjoying a sip or two of wine, I will simply have to snatch little pockets of time and gently weave into them The Charming Ordinary.
With endless and heartfelt thanks to my wonderful husband, family and some very dear friends who have never ceased to encourage this endeavor, I warmly welcome you to stick around. I certainly was getting a blog nowhere fast by waiting for my idea of the perfect time. Together we can see what happens when we decide to make the imperfect time “perfect”.

“All things have their season, and in their times all things pass under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
